Patriot Bolt machines ASTM F1554 anchor bolts, the standard specification for rods that anchor structural supports and equipment to concrete. F1554 has three grades, named for their minimum yield strength: 36, 55 and 105 ksi.
We make F1554 anchor rods to your purchase order or drawing, threaded on one or both ends, with matching nuts. Every order ships with mill test reports traceable to the heat.

Why Engineers Specify F1554 Anchor Bolts
- Written for anchors. F1554 covers straight, bent and headed rods cast into concrete.
- Three strengths. Pick the grade by required yield: 36, 55 or 105 ksi.
- Weldable option. Grade 55 can be ordered weldable, and a weldable Grade 55 may be supplied when Grade 36 is ordered.
- Easy field identification. The projecting end is color coded by grade unless the grade is stamped.
F1554 Grade 36 replaced A307 Grade C for anchor bolts in 2007.
F1554 Anchor Bolt Specifications
ASTM F1554 sets properties by grade.
| Grade | Diameter | Tensile | Yield, min | Elongation, min | Reduction of area, min |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 36 | 1/2–4 in | 58–80 ksi | 36 ksi | 23% | 40% |
| 55 | 1/2–4 in | 75–95 ksi | 55 ksi | 21% | 30% |
| 105 | 1/2–3 in | 125–150 ksi | 105 ksi | 15% | 45% |
Grade 105 runs to 3 in diameter; Grades 36 and 55 run to 4 in.
F1554 Chemical Composition
| Element | Grade 36 | Grades 55 and 105 |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon | 0.26–0.28 max, by size | Per specification |
| Manganese | 0.60–0.90 over 3/4 in | Per specification |
| Phosphorus | 0.04 max | 0.040 max |
| Sulfur | 0.05 max | 0.050 max |
| Copper (when specified) | 0.20 min | 0.20 min |
Limits per the current edition of the specification. The mill test report for your heat is the controlling document.
Anchor Rod Configurations
- Straight rods threaded on one end, for use with a nut and plate embedded in the concrete.
- Rods threaded both ends, with nuts top and bottom.
- Bent and headed styles to your drawing. Send the drawing and we will confirm the configuration.
Send the overall length, thread length on each end, grade and quantity.
Applications and Industries
- Industrial plants: Equipment, tank and pipe rack foundations. See Petrochemical & Refining.
- Oil and gas: Compressor, pump and skid foundations. See Oil & Gas.
- Structural steel: Column base plates and support structures. See Industrial Manufacturing.
Certification and Traceability
Patriot Bolt is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Each F1554 order includes mill test reports traceable to the heat, along with a certificate of conformance to the specification on your purchase order.
Anchor rods are color coded by grade on the end that projects from the concrete, or stamped with the grade when ordered.

F1554 Anchor Bolts FAQ
What do the F1554 grade numbers mean?
Each number is the minimum yield strength in ksi: Grade 36 is 36 ksi, Grade 55 is 55 ksi and Grade 105 is 105 ksi.
What are the F1554 color codes?
The projecting end is painted blue for Grade 36, yellow for Grade 55 and red for Grade 105, unless the grade is permanently stamped.
Which nuts go with F1554?
A563 Grade A for Grades 36 and 55. Grade 105 calls for A563 DH, and A194 2H nuts are commonly used because DH is hard to find in larger sizes.
Can you make anchor bolts to my drawing?
Yes. Send the drawing with grade, diameter, length and thread lengths, and our team will confirm the details and lead time.
