Nickel 328 Anti-Seize

Built to spec. Made in Texas.

nickel 328 anti-seize

Patriot Bolt Nickel 328 Anti-Seize Thread Lubricant is a nickel-based anti-seize compound rated from cryogenic temperatures to 2500 °F. It gives good makeup torque and dependable breakout torque after high temperature and high load.

Its blend of three solids, mostly nickel, resists seizing and galling on carbon and alloy steel studs in carbon and stainless steel flanges. We supply it in three container sizes, alone or with your bolting order.

Why Use Nickel 328 Anti-Seize

  • Wide temperature range. Rated from cryogenic service to 2500 °F.
  • Dependable breakout. Good makeup torque and breakout torque after high temperature and high load.
  • Resists seizing and galling on threads and nut faces.
  • Low oxidation and consistent friction factors.

Makeup and K-Factor

Bolt loadK-factor
Up to 13,000 lb0.172
13,001 to 93,000 lb0.144
Over 93,000 to 650,000 lb0.120

Nickel 328 friction drops as bolt load rises, so the datasheet gives three K-factors. Use the value for your target bolt load when you work out torque from T = K × D × F.

Learn more in our Nut Factor (K) Guide, or run the numbers in the Patriot torque calculator. Our Torque Reference Charts list the K-factor each table assumes.

Applications

  • Flange bolting: carbon and alloy steel studs, such as A193 B7 and A320 L7, in carbon and stainless steel flanges.
  • High-temperature, high-load joints where seizing and galling are a concern.
  • Oxygen systems: Nickel 328 can be used, but its carrier is a hydrocarbon and must not come into contact with the process.

Nickel 328 contains no rust inhibitors. For step-by-step application, see How to Lubricate Flange Bolting.

Handling, Storage and Datasheet

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and open flame.
  • Keep away from acids.
  • Avoid strong acids, oxidizers and reducing atmospheres.
  • Decomposition gives off carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. In a reducing atmosphere, nickel carbonyl, Ni(CO)4, can form.
